Glade Festival @ Nr Newquay

Us Sirenz had been looking forward to Glade festival ever since we had been invited to dance months before.

We planned to get our second set of costumes made ready for the summer festivals, so we have spent the last 8 months or so designing and making our costumes. Glade was therefore the perfect time to get the new set out for the first time.

Friday 14th July 2006

Dancers booked to dance for Glade festival were Lorraine, Michelle, Emma, Beccy and Alice. We had been asked by Glade for 5 dancers, however, Jodie who was coming to Glade wanted to dance for the first day with us, making 6 of us on the first day.

We got ready and headed out to the festival site. It was a beautifully warm day, we were all very warm in our costumes! We spent our time mainly at the Origin, Liquid and Breaksday stages. We danced on stage on the Origin stage several times which had to be my favourite part of our performance. The music was brilliant all day and the atmosphere around the site was electric.

I think it was around 3am before I headed off to get out of costume on the Friday night and head to bed for a few hours sleep.

Saturday 15th July 2006

Saturday was even hotter than Friday and we were certainly glad to be wearing our second set of costumes because they are not as heavy (& hot) as our fire costumes. Us Sirenz got dressed up into our warrior outfits and headed out to the festival site. It was brilliant to be out in our new costumes for the first time, it was very exciting indeed!

We spent most of the day dancing either at the Origin stage or dancing outside of the Breaksday stage. We made our way back to the Origin for the last 45 minutes before the stage closed, which was so much fun because we were dancing around the stage area alongside some of the other performers. Once again the music didn’t let us down as we stomped from morning to night!

It was around 4am before I headed back to camp to get changed and get some sleep!

A truly fantastic weekend was had by all. We are looking forward to the next one already!
